Christmas came eight days early for High Desert youngsters on Tuesday.

Volunteers handed out more than 2,000 toys to about 1,400 kids at the SBC Fair in Victorville during the 10th annual Rescue Mission Alliance Victor Valley Christmas Toy Giveaway.

Tuba Force brought the Christmas jams and volunteers painted kids’ faces as tables full of locally-gifted toys awaited smiling children eager for a shot at Christmas this year.

“The children are so happy. They run up to Santa, they tell them their wishes, and the parents are so thankful,” said Dawn Quigg, community relations coordinator for the rescue mission.

The happy scene, she added, “comes from the generosity of the High Desert.”
