There’s no such thing as a little donor…or is there?

Saige is one of our newest friends at the rescue mission. At 6 years old, she may be one of the littlest donors we’ve ever had. Saige was encouraged by her teacher at High Desert Church to think of a way she could serve the community, so she decided she wanted to sell cupcakes to raise money for the rescue mission. How sweet is that?

Her mom helped her bake the cupcakes and Saige sold them to friends and family, through her parents’ workplaces, and on Facebook for just a donation. One of Saige’s friends offered one penny, because that was all she had, and Saige’s response was, “even a penny will help.”

It always amazes me when kids get what we do and want to make a difference. It reminds me of the Bible passage in I Timothy 4:12, where Paul told Timothy, “Do not let anyone treat you as if you are unimportant because you are young,” and he goes on to say, “Instead, be an example to others with your words, your actions, you love, your faith, and your pure life.”

Saige raised $37 to help the less fortunate in our community and, though she may be the littlest donor we’ve ever had, she just might have the biggest heart we’ve ever seen.

Saige, don’t ever let anyone despise your youth, because you are already making a huge difference in your world.
