Bill’s Boots on the Ground

Hi friends,

We have been very busy at the Mission working through all of the changes resulting from COVID—thank you for your prayers and support. The operations are full steam ahead again with some minor modifications and the individuals and families in need in our communities are receiving the help they need. Of course this includes receiving the gospel, the good news of Jesus and his saving grace for us all. We are called to “love our neighbor as ourselves” and so many of you, our donors, give to the Mission’s ministry with this commandment in your minds. We thank you so much, as your gifts support all of our programs and outreaches. One of the Mission’s largest outreaches happens in just a couple days.

At our Great Thanksgiving Banquet, we would normally prepare more than 2,000 servings of turkey with all of the trimmings, but because of the virus, we are having to change things up this year. We will still serve a meal, but it will for the community within walking distance of the Mission office in downtown Victorville. We will prepare for about 150 of our local homeless guests and dispense the meal with proper sanitation and distancing in place.

For our families who can prepare their own meals, we will preregister 650 of our local residents to receive a full turkey and basket with all of the fixings. We are planning to have the giveaway at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville; it will be a drive-through, contactless event. With these boxes and our collaborative events, we expect to provide meals for more than 4,200 individuals.

We thank you for your support and prayer as we do things differently this year. God is in control and in charge. We will be updating the Facebook page with the food drive information and sign-up procedures we will need for this event. “May The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
