2018: A Look Back At A Joyous And Successful Year
We have seen the goodness of the Lord here at the mission this last year. The outpouring of goodwill and generosity to the Mission is humbling. We have learned to wait and see what the Lord has in store for us as He lays out His plan for what has been provided through so many wonderful private and civic partners. We strive to be generous and wise stewards of all that has been given.
Our Easter Egg-stravaganza grew from 1,300 attendees in 2017 to 2,600 attendees in 2018. Prior to the 2018 event, we had been the recipients of all the Easter items from the closing of a Dollar Tree Store and had wondered “Why?” Then we saw that every item needed had been provided. It was wonderful to see the joy at that event.
Our Thanksgiving and Christmas banquets were again great successes, as we served more than 4,000 meals at the events. Throughout the year, 8,300 emergency food boxes were distributed, which will feed nearly 20,000 individuals. Nearly 40,000 meals were served.
We saw more and more blessings in meeting the food, clothing, and hygiene needs of our guests. With the help of our donors and partnerships with other non-profit and service agencies, we provided a Warming Shelter, a Food Collaborative, a mobile food truck, and mobile shower trailer that serve our High Desert community. We are so grateful for the 24,000 volunteer hours that made this all possible.
The Life Recovery Program, which offers true refuge, recovery and restoration to men in need, celebrated 11 graduates this year. This and all of the mission’s successes are because of you, our partners. Your generosity and constant support allows us to act on your behalf to serve our neighbors and friends in need. Thank you!
