A Mission With a Vision

Feb 14, 2017

The future is not a promised thing for us; we have only one opportunity. It happens every time we wake up in the morning. This is the next 24 hours of our life here on earth, where we can make a difference in the lives of those around us. Our opportunity to do ministry here at the mission is amazing. Our door swings open hundreds of times a day; as that happens here in 2017, our goals will remain the same, to provide a hand up to as many people as possible in the Victor Valley.

One area we will focus on this year will be to expand mission services; we are considering new sites for potential permanent facilities. This would include more space for our program and transitional housing. We will have a commercial kitchen to prepare meals, and train program residents in culinary arts. The space would also provide many other agencies access to the homeless population here in the victor valley.

In addition, we would like to expand our shower ministry with a new shower unit at the fairgrounds; this would provide more shower space. A real vision for this ministry is to have a mobile shower unit to travel around the different areas providing showers to the homeless in other cites here in the high desert. The need in this desert is great, and many folks who would use these services are spread out across the valley. We will always offer refuge, recovery, and restoration to those in need. We like to provide the shower guests with new socks and undergarments. We recently had a donation of socks to the mission, a little seven-year-old girl named Mia from Mia’s Boxes of Love raised money and donations to giveaway over 5,000 pairs of socks to agencies in the high desert. I was so moved by her act of kindness, now we will be able to keep clean socks on our guests’ feet for a while, thank you Mia!

If you would like to help us do something extra, you can call the mission at 760-955-5958, we have many opportunities available for you to get involved.
